Holiday season is almost in full-swing and what better person to get meal-planning tips from than with celebrity chef and Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis. In an interview with Natural Health Mag the food expert offered some tips for entertaining during the holidays that will help busy moms take some of the stress out of holiday meal-planning.
Here’s what the petite mom said about hosting a potluck, which De Laurentiis plans to do for Thanksgiving. “It takes a lot of the pressure off and lets your guests be a part of the entire celebration. It engages everybody and empowers them to feel good about their ability to create something. And if people don’t like to bring a dish, they’re eager to help out in the kitchen. That’s what’s so great about cooking and eating and sharing meals—it’s communal. It’s connecting with other human beings, which we lack in this day and age because we’re always on our phones.”
The beautiful 44-year old offers other great helpful tips for entertaining. “I put Post-it notes in different parts of the kitchen to remind me of what I have to do and the timing of it all. I wash platters and put labels on everything, so I can remember, ‘I said the stuffing is going in this dish, and the cake goes here, and the sides go over there.’ You don’t have to make everything from scratch: If you make a beautiful salad and there’s a store-bought dressing that you really like, use it.”
