Today, I’m sharing 10 free content creator tools every creator should consider, 10 tools I personally use to make life easier, help you stay organized, and get your content in front of more people without spending money.
Whether you’re a blogger, YouTuber, podcaster, or social media creator, these tools can help you save time, stay organized, and create better content without breaking the bank.
I want to preface this by saying that some of these tools offer premium upgrades or may have minor fees, but for the most part, they are free and incredibly useful for getting started. I’ll walk you through each tool, how I use it, and tips for getting the most out of them—so you can implement them in your own content creation process right away.
Keep in mind: although you can use all of these apps for free, they do have premium versions that offer more features. Still, the free versions are extremely beneficial for content creators just starting out.
10 Free Tools I Use as a Content Creator
1. CapCut – A free video editing tool (desktop & mobile) that makes editing reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts quick and polished. I primarily use this to edit Instagram videos.
2. Trello – Great for project management and keeping track of content ideas, workflows, and deadlines. (Alternative: Asana or Notion.) I use Trello to organize both my personal and professional life.
3. Pinterest – Not just for recipes and DIY—Pinterest is a powerful traffic-driving platform for your blog, products, or services. Pins live for months, unlike Instagram posts that disappear quickly. I’ve been using Pinterest for over 8 years and still get traffic to my blog from posts I pinned 3+ years ago.
4. Google Drive – As a content creator, you need a reliable place to store your files. Google Drive offers free cloud storage for documents, spreadsheets, and files. Plus, you can collaborate in real-time with clients or team members. I store my podcast episodes, client info, and personal documents here to stay organized.
5. Mailchimp or MailerLite – Both platforms are great for building an email list, which is essential for content creators. They offer free starter plans for sending newsletters and automations. I use both for different purposes, but there are many email marketing tools to explore.
6. Calendly – Makes it easy for people to schedule calls, interviews, or coaching sessions without the back-and-forth emails. I use this to book interviews and discovery calls.
7. Gumroad – A free platform to sell digital products like e-books, templates, or courses. Simple setup and minimal tech headaches. They do charge a small fee per product sold. I use Gumroad to sell my audio bundle for creatives looking to uncover and monetize a passion using content strategies.
8. Etsy – Perfect for selling digital products like planners, printables, or even physical items. Many moms monetize their businesses here. Etsy charges a fee for every product sold. I’ve been selling digital products on this platform for 5+ years.
9. AI Tools (like ChatGPT or Claude) – AI is great for brainstorming ideas, writing drafts, creating outlines, and even helping with social media captions. Think of AI as your free content assistant.
10. Canva – Last but not least, my favorite tool. Every content creator should be using Canva. I use the premium version, but the free version has so much available. You can create graphics for any platform, social media content, digital products, presentations, and even videos. It’s super beginner-friendly, with free templates for everything.
