Evergreen Content Ideas That Last for Years

September 8, 2025 by watkinsT Leave a Comment

Creating evergreen content that lasts for years is very possible. If you’re creating content online that’s only relevant for a few days and then disappears—content no one can find later—you need to add evergreen content to your strategy.

Evergreen content is content that stays relevant for months and even years. It’s content people can search for and find long after you’ve published it. It’s not a fad or breaking news.

Case in point: I’ve been creating content online for over 11 years, and I still have content I created more than a decade ago that people are finding today. That’s the beauty of evergreen content—it keeps working for you.

I’m going to share 5 ways to create evergreen content so people can find you months and even years from now.

But before I dive in, let me say this: for whatever content you create, always keep SEO—Search Engine Optimization—in mind. That means using the right keywords and optimizing your content to make it easier to discover.

Below is a recent podcast episode, “Simple SEO Strategies,” in the show notes so you can apply those principles to your own content.

Benefits of Evergreen Content

  1. Long-Term Traffic
Evergreen content continues to attract viewers, readers, or listeners months and even years after publishing. You don’t have to constantly create new content to stay visible online.

  2. Builds Authority
High-quality evergreen content positions you as an expert in your niche. People trust content that answers their questions consistently over time.

  3. Better ROI
One piece of evergreen content can generate traffic, leads, or sales for months with minimal maintenance. Compared to time-sensitive posts, it gives you more value for your effort.

  4. Improves SEO
Search engines love content that stays relevant and continues to get traffic. Evergreen content often ranks higher on Google and YouTube, making it easier for new people to discover you.

  5. Repurposing Opportunities
You can reuse or repurpose evergreen content across blogs, podcasts, social media, videos, emails, and even workshops. This multiplies your reach without creating something entirely new each time.

  6. Leads and Conversions Over Time
Evergreen content can continuously generate leads, subscribers, or sales, unlike timely posts that fade quickly. For example, a blog post on a popular topic can keep attracting new customers for years.

  7. Less Pressure to Post Constantly
Since the content remains relevant, you don’t have to chase trends or post daily to maintain visibility. This is especially useful for busy entrepreneurs and moms building a side business.

Evergreen Content Ideas That Last for Years

  1. Blog Content
I’ve had my blog for over 11 years, and I still have posts from 3, 4, 5 years ago—and even one that’s 10 years old—showing up on the first page of Google. And they’re still getting views!

Having a blog not only brings people to your platform for years, but it also positions you as an authority in your field. That’s been true for me—my blog continues to send people my way and establish credibility, even when I’m not actively promoting those older posts.

  1. Podcast Episodes
I’ve hosted my podcast for more than 6 years, and I still get downloads from episodes I recorded 3+ years ago. Some of those early conversations continue to bring new people into my community today.

Podcasting is a great way to showcase your expertise, connect with your audience in a deeper way, and attract organic traffic to your platform—long after you’ve hit “publish.”

  1. YouTube
I’ll be honest: I’m not very active on YouTube. But even so, I still get traffic from videos I posted over 2 years ago. That’s because YouTube is the second largest search engine after Google.

If you create videos that answer questions people are always asking, your content can live on and work for you for months and years. My little bit of effort on YouTube years back continues to pay off.

  1. Pinterest
Pinterest has been a game-changer for me. It’s a visual search engine where people go to look for ideas and inspiration. I haven’t posted on Pinterest in months, but I’m still getting traffic from pins I created years ago.

In fact, a lot of my blog traffic comes directly from Pinterest. The best part is that Pinterest encourages you to link out to your website or social channels—it’s designed to send people off-platform. That makes it an amazing lead generator.

  1. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a professional networking platform and another place where you can create thought-leader style content. It’s a platform where your ideal clients may already be hanging out, and by creating evergreen posts or articles, you give them a way to find you.

The beauty of all these platforms is that you can repurpose your content across them. Something that starts as a blog post can become a podcast episode, a YouTube video, a Pinterest pin, and a LinkedIn article. That’s how you maximize reach and longevity.
