Our turn back TV recommendation this week is Punky Brewster, which ran for two seasons from 1984-1988.
Punky Brewster is about a little girl (Soleil Moon Frye) and her special bond with her foster father, Henry Warnimont (George Gaynes), who eventually becomes her adoptive father. Henry is an elderly, sometimes moody, widower and Punky is a positive little girl with a great outlook on life. Although Punky and Henry live in poverty they are rich in their love for one another. There are many life lessons portrayed throughout the show like honesty, kindness, and respect, and tougher subjects relating to peer pressure.
Because every parent is unique and kids’ sensibilities and maturity vary, we always recommend that parents or guardians do their own research before allowing kids to start a new TV show. What is acceptable for one parent or child may not be for another. Our age recommendation for Punky Brewster would be 9+
