Ever feel like it’s hard to get through an entire day without the energy boost that coffee provides? Well, for those that don’t think avoiding the daily coffee dose is possible, take a look at what actress and TV personality Tamera Mowry has to say about it. The mom-of-two shares personal ideas on ways she stays energized, without the coffee stimulant. See if any of Mowry’s tips work for you.
Get enough sleep: There is no denying that after a late night or one spent tossing and turning you are left exhausted. To avoid this, get enough sleep by planning your schedule ahead of time so that you literally schedule sleep. I know that sounds crazy, but sleep and rest have to be a priority! Wake up and think about your goals so you get motivated to start the day: Wake up with a purpose! Before you get out of bed, or even look at your phone, think about your goals for the day and how you will achieve or work towards them. When I stop and think about my goals and set a purpose for my day, I’m excited to get out of bed and start making things happen!
Get sunlight/daylight in the morning: Try and step outside for at least 15 minutes in the morning. This is both emotionally and physically beneficial. Breathing in fresh air and feeling the daylight on your face will help you feel refreshed and recharged, and it also has great benefits for your hormone levels.
Eat superfoods for breakfast: Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. In order to fight fatigue, you have to eat breakfast. Reach for something that is packed with nutrients to keep you energized throughout the entire day. I like to make a green smoothie which is made with spinach and hemp hearts.
Drink water first thing in the morning: The body needs water! After you wake up you likely haven’t hydrated for a full eight hours, so reach for a glass of water first thing! We often forget how important hydration is for our immune system. If you prefer to reach for something hot first thing in the morning, try some hot water with lemon.
Stretch: Stretching is great for releasing toxins from your muscles, as well as helping to get your blood flowing. By doing a few simple stretches in the morning you will energize your mind and body.
Clean your bedroom so you wake up in a clean, fresh space: A clean and uncluttered space will help you start off the day with a clear mind. Try tidying up your bedroom before you go to sleep so that you wake up to a fresh space.
Take deep breaths in the morning: Start your day with some breathing exercises to increase the flow of oxygen throughout your body (I do this while I stretch). Inhale a deep breath through your nose, hold it for 4-7 seconds and then exhale from your mouth. Not only does the oxygen give you energy, but it tends to calm the mind as well.
Listen to music that makes you happy while you are getting dressed: Music has an incredible way of influencing your mood. Start your morning off by listening to music that makes you feel happy and energized. I always find that music can seriously elevate my mood and energy levels.
Pack healthy snacks with good fats like nuts to have throughout the day: Foods packed full of healthy fats like nuts are natural brain boosters, and also offer protein — Both of which can help you stay focused and motivated throughout the day.
