As a mom of two active teenage boys, finding the right balance of nutrition and taste can often feel like a daunting task. With their growing bodies and busy schedules filled with endless activities, ensuring they get the proper nutrients is always a top priority, but hard to do. I introduced naked nutrition’s shake mix to them, but was met with some skepticism from my boys, aged 15 and 13, when they heard it included a vegetable blend.
Being a former personal trainer, I understand why good nutrition is imperative for our kids’ overall growth and development. We received the vanilla flavor, and it was very easy to add a scoop to my teens’ whole milk. With the 8 grams of protein from the powder and 8 grams from a cup of milk, 16 grams of protein was not a bad way to start the morning, especially for my boys who work out consistently and are always looking to add more protein to their diets.
This powder adds well rounded nutrition to a daily routine. It has 8 grams of protein from organic milk; six organic vegetable powders (broccoli, alfalfa grass, kale, Spanish, spirulina, wheat grass); 25 vitamins and minerals; no artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors or preservatives, plus it’s gluten free, soy free, and GMO free.
I was thrilled that one serving contained so many nutritious benefits. Some highlights:
• 40% Vitamin D – Essential for maintaining strong and healthy bones, supporting immune function, muscle strength, heart health, plus more.
• 50% Iron – Plays a vital role in preventing anemia and maintaining energy levels, as well as supporting cognitive function, immune health, and overall growth and development.
• 100% Vitamin C – Supports the immune system and promotes healthy skin, bones, and teeth.
• 35% Vitamin K – Essential for blood clotting. It also contributes to bone health by regulating calcium levels and supporting the formation of bone proteins.
• 25% Magnesium – Plays a crucial role in regulating blood pressure, maintaining heart health, and supporting bone density.
• 20% Calcium – Important for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. It also helps prevent bone-related diseases.
• 25% Vitamin E – Supports overall immune function and reduces inflammation in the body. It also promotes skin health.
• 25% Thiamin – Also known as B1, Thiamin plays a significant role in nerve signaling and muscle contraction. It also contributes to healthy muscle tone and proper nervous system function.
That’s just a summary of the nutrients this powder contained. When reading about all of the key vitamins and minerals listed under the nutrition facts I was even more eager to let my kids try this mix.
When it came time for my boys to actually sit down and try this shake mix, to my surprise and delight, both of them took an instant liking to this. I think we were all surprised after hearing about the vegetable mix included in this powder. They were thrilled to drink it and I was even more thrilled to watch them enjoy it.
Overall, we had a great experience with this vanilla powder. I know there is also a chocolate flavor, so I can imagine that might make the shake taste like chocolate milk.
This can easily be incorporated into a daily routine, whether it’s blended into a smoothie or simply mixed with milk. As a mom, I’m excited to see my boys embracing healthy habits and grateful for the opportunity to share this journey with them.
