Lisa Marie Presley has had an incredible upbringing. As the daughter of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, and actress Priscilla Presley, the mother of four has had a charmed life. But, despite the way Presley grew up she tells Healthy Living Magazine how very “normal” her family is, and what she considers to be her #1 priority in life. “My children. No question, my family and my loved ones.”
The 46-year old has a son and a daughter, Riley Keough, 25, and Benjamin Keough, 21, with ex-husband Danny Keough, and 6-year-old twin girls, Harper Vivienne Ann and Finley Aaron Love, with current husband, music producer Michael Lockwood.
“We are just very normal,” she tells the magazine. “…We all stay together. We are all very close. Wherever I am they have their rooms and live with me… Like in the same room, preferably for me. I don’t like it when they are far away in any way. I am very protective. I just smother them in love and I am also ferociously protective. They are my priority… When they get older sometimes I don’t think it ever ends. When they get past 18 I think their problems just get bigger to be honest (laughs); that’s always a struggle. We all are very, very close.”
She also talked about the bond that her adult children have with their younger siblings. “The older ones absolutely adore the younger ones and they help me with them. We all kind of hold each other up; we are all each other’s best friends. I’m theirs but I am also their mother… None of us are happy if we haven’t seen each other past a week or two. It’s just a normal family.”
Presley is the sole heir to her father’s estate, and owner of Graceland, the Memphis mansion where her father lived, which is now a major tourist attraction, and she makes sure to visit regularly. “…around three or four times a year. As much as I can I still have family there so I love going there… It’s like a warm feeling, I just feel like I am at home; it feels familiar. It makes me happy.”
