It’s something that most mothers have dealt with at some point in their lives, the proverbial “working mom guilt,” but when InStyle Magazine asked March’s cover girl, Kerry Washington, her opinion about the subject matter she gave an interesting response.
“Women use this ‘guilt’ word a lot, but I’m not sure how I feel about it,” the 38-year-old explains. “I know why it’s the word that keeps coming up, but I can’t co-sign on it yet. There has got to be a better way…”
You can’t be all things to all people all the time. You have to experience your humanity, you have to know you are a limited vessel, and you can only do so much,” the actress continues.
While true that mothers can’t be everywhere 24 hours a day the guilt factor is still prevalent in a lot of homes. Maybe Washington’s point of view will make us rethink how hard we mothers are on ourselves. Maybe.
