Jenny McCarthy has been following her passions for most of her life, and we were thrilled to catch up with the Masked Singer host and Formless Beauty founder. From a young age, this multi-talented mom had a love for creativity. “Growing up, I was passionate about writing and storytelling. I loved creating little skits and performing them for my family,” Jenny shares with Tinseltown Mom.
Her interest in health and natural remedies also began early on, which now clearly influences her makeup line, Formless Beauty. Her 22-year-old son, Evan, was the muse behind the brand’s creation. “Evan has been a huge inspiration in my life. His journey with autism made me very conscious of the products we were using at home. I wanted to create a makeup line that was safe, free of harmful chemicals, and gentle enough for anyone, especially those with sensitivities like Evan. His well-being pushed me to ensure that every product in Formless Beauty meets the highest standards of safety and purity,” she explains.
A little research into clean beauty quickly reveals that the label can be misleading, especially considering the beauty industry’s lack of regulation. McCarthy-Wahlberg sets Formless Beauty apart from other “clean” makeup brands. “Formless Beauty goes beyond the ‘clean’ label. We strictly adhere to Environmental Working Group (EWG) standards, ensuring our products are free from harmful chemicals and toxins. We’re committed to transparency and educating our customers about what’s in our products, which is something many other brands don’t prioritize.”
As a hands-on mom, Jenny emphasizes that Formless Beauty was designed with safety and sensitivity in mind. The vegan products are free from common allergens, harsh chemicals, and irritants. “This makes them a safer choice for moms and kids alike… We want moms to feel confident that they are using the best and safest products available,” she stresses.
Jenny has always been a strong advocate for her son, from his autism diagnosis to the present day. So, what advice would she give to a mom in a challenging season of advocating for her child, especially when feeling unsupported? “Never give up. Your advocacy and love for your child are powerful forces. Seek out support groups, connect with other parents going through similar experiences, and remember to take care of yourself, too. Your persistence will make a difference in your child’s life. Trust your instincts and keep fighting for what your child needs.”
Today, Jenny’s son is a college graduate with a successful YouTube channel, and she has always supported his passions. “I always encouraged Evan to follow his interests and explore his creativity. I made sure he knew that his passions were important and valid. It was all about giving him the freedom to be himself and the confidence to pursue what he loves,” she says.
The television host has even involved Evan in her own passions. The 22-year-old experiences life on set at The Masked Singer, where he works behind the scenes and helps with audience warm-up. “He loves helping people and making them smile. It’s the perfect job for him. He’s passionate about the entertainment industry and is exploring different avenues to find his niche. It’s wonderful to see him grow and pursue his dreams,” she beams.
When it comes to makeup, Jenny has advice for mothers who are home most of the day with their kids but want to add a little beauty to their routine. “Keep it simple!” she emphasizes. “A little Elevate Mascara, some lip gloss, and a touch of cream blush can make a big difference without taking much time. It’s all about enhancing your natural beauty and feeling good,” she adds.
And what about looking good for your significant other while at home all day? “I believe it’s important to feel good about yourself, whether you’re at home or out and about. Looking good for your significant other can be as simple as putting on a little lip gloss or mascara to boost your confidence. It’s not about impressing anyone but feeling great in your own skin.”
Jenny also takes time to let her skin breathe, even when her husband, actor and singer Donnie Wahlberg, is around. “I enjoy putting on a bit of makeup, even at home. It’s a balance. Some days I go makeup-free to let my skin breathe, and other days I’ll wear light makeup to feel more put together. Donnie loves me either way, which makes it easy to do what feels best for me.”
Currently, Formless Beauty offers lip gloss, eyeshadow, mascara, lashes, and brushes. Jenny is excited to launch their Luminous Exfoliating Scrub this fall and has plans for a full skincare line in the near future. Her goal is to continue expanding their product range to cover all aspects of beauty and self-care, but that’s not where her ambitions stop. “I’m also passionate about continuing my advocacy work and finding new ways to make a positive impact in the world.”
