Candace Cameron Bure is sharing courage to anxious minds and faith to searching souls. The New York Times best-selling author, beloved actress, Emmy-nominated host, mother and wife, is joining forces with her brother, actor Kirk Cameron, to bring about a special night of hope. They’ve teamed up for the upcoming Hope Rising, an inspirational COVID-19 benefit concert featuring performances by some of the top artists in the Contemporary Christian music industry.
The brother and sister duo will provide hosting duties, and musicians such as Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Newsboys, Natalie Grant, Matthew West, For King and Country, Kirk Franklin and Gloria Gaynor will perform from their homes, and Bishop T.D. Jakes, Kristen Chenoweth, Franklin Graham, Priscilla Shirer, Lysa TerKeurst and more will deliver inspiring messages. The Hope Rising concert will not only uplift and encourage but raise much-needed funds to help victims of COVID-19.
We were beyond excited to connect with the adored actress about her role in this benefit concert and eager to hear how she and her brother teamed up for such a powerful night. “Kirk came to me with this idea and I did not hesitate to say yes,” Bure tells Tinseltown Mom. “People are in need of hope, faith, courage, and inspiration during this anxiety-producing time. Not only is Hope Rising a result of a lot of hard work, but it is backed up by even more heart. This is about giving back to people in need. Hope Rising will uplift and inspire by uniting the audience through music and inspirational messages. Plus, despite the challenge of each artist recording this from home, the end result is mind-blowing. There is an amazing energy behind it, and it needs to be seen everywhere.”
For those reluctant to listen to, or unfamiliar with, faith-based music, the Fuller House actress explains what you can expect. “A fun time with amazing songs filled with lyrics of HOPE! That’s what faith-based music is! We have the cream of the crop, Grammy-award winning artists in Contemporary Christian music. If you’ve never listened, you may be surprised at how much you LOVE it! It isn’t political, nor is it about a specific denomination. This is the community of faith coming together for ALL OF US.”
On-screen performances and messages will be delivered by industry greats. The mom of three explains how she was able to secure such heavyweights. “It helps to have them as friends! When we started reaching out the outcome was incredible and even bigger than we imagined! Every artist said yes despite the challenges and the tight turnaround. This concert is a result of each participant’s pure love for others and their desire to help those in need. No one is fiscally benefiting from this project. What each artist has done from their home is remarkable. The production is high quality and SO GOOD!”
All performances and production work have been donated, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the charity, Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse is making a huge impact by providing medical personnel to help combat the coronavirus. They are on the front lines, in two of the worst affected areas in the world, New York City, the epicenter of the U.S. outbreak and the city of Cremona, in northern Italy’s Lombardy region, which is at the heart of the pandemic in Europe. Their goal is to provide physical and spiritual healing as they share messages of hope found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Bure explains why they chose this organization to partner with. “Because they are boots on the ground right now during COVID 19! They are on the front lines and actively serving. They also do this in Jesus’ name, which as a faith community is an important message for us. Samaritan’s Purse helps through the purpose of sharing God’s love.”
The hands-on philanthropist is also very passionate about giving. Bure personally works with several organizations, like The Salvation Army, because she believes that helping and giving back is an essential part of life. “…Each charity I work with provides help for specific needs,” she explains. “There is so much in the world that needs attention, so I’ve chosen to partner with a few non-profits that cover a broader scope to fulfill those needs.”
