It’s such a cliché statement, but it really is hard to believe that another year has come and is almost gone. The end of the year is when we gear up for the wonderful winter months and holiday festivities and, once again, we caught up with one of our most inspiring Housewives, Stephanie Hollman, to talk about some of her holiday favorites, plus get tips on alleviating stress this year.
Hollman, who stars on the Real Housewives of Dallas, with occasional appearances by her businessman husband Travis and two handsome sons, shares what she enjoys most about this time of year. “The holidays for me is all about creating memories with my boys,” Hollman tells Tinseltown Mom. “We love enjoying all of the festivities that Dallas has to offer from the Christmas Light Carriage Rides to sledding at the Gaylord Hotel. Everything is bigger in Texas, including the holiday season!”
Admittedly, there can be tension associated with the holidays: the party-planning, crowded malls, and endless shopping lists, but overall this time of year is filled with cheerfulness that many look forward to. To help alleviate some of the holiday party-planning anxiety we elicited tips from Hollman. “Don’t stress yourself out trying to make everything perfect! This is such a stressful time of year for some, and it shouldn’t be that way at all,” Hollman acknowledges. “This is a time of year when we should be celebrating and surrounding ourselves with loved ones, not freaking out over some appetizers. I do a little Christmas party every year and the dress code is usually pajamas and we order a bunch of pizzas while we sit around the kitchen table and decorate cookies. Keep it simple, fun, and stress free.”
In keeping with the simplicity theme, the Bravo beauty shares a unique gift idea for kids that’ll impart healthy accountability. “We have two boys, Chance (8) and Cruz (6), and this past Christmas Travis and I bought them each a fish. They boys were ecstatic and it has actually taught them a lot of responsibility,” the beautiful mom shares. “They feed their fish first thing in the morning, and if they ever forget, I usually get a call from the school with them asking me to feed the fish. We had a little mishap where we had a faulty fish, but we were able to get him replaced before the boys got home from school, so make sure you don’t get some crazy colored exotic fish, haha!”
With all the entertaining we do during the holidays we can’t forget about our fashion sense. Hollman has suggestions for those moms looking to dress more stylish, yet comfy. “There are so many cute sweaters and cardigans out there, but it’s all about how you style them… Some fun earrings always add a little extra sparkle to a normally muted sweater; BaubleBar is one of my favorite earring designers. Also try to step out of the box when it comes to your footwear. I am loving some of the fun fashion sneakers and metallic flats that I have seen at the mall. I share all of my outfit details that you see on my Instagram and on the LikeToKnow.it page if you’re ever looking for a little outfit inspo! You can follow me at Stephhollman on the LikeToKnow.it app…”
Moms, if you’re still feeling more overwhelmed than overjoyed this season the reality star offers words of encouragement that will hopefully put things in better perspective. “There is so much pressure on moms to get Christmas cards sent out, put together classroom parties, buy everyone a gift, the list goes on and on. Only commit to what you can comfortably accomplish, delegate some tasks to the hubby, and don’t forget to enjoy this time of year… You can’t lose sight of the reason for the season…”
