5 Ways to Make Time for Your Passion, Even in a Busy Life

August 11, 2025 by watkinsT Leave a Comment

How do you make time for your passion? Life is busy. We all juggle family, work, responsibilities, passions, and more. But making time for our passions should be a priority. If God has placed a passion in your heart and is leading you to pursue it, it’s your responsibility to make room for it. Not only do we find personal fulfillment in following a God-led passion, but we also serve and help the people we are called to reach in the process.

I’m going to share 5 ways to free up just ONE hour a day so you can finally work on your dream.

5 Ways to Make Time for Your Passion

  1. Say No to Something
There’s always something you can say no to—whether it’s volunteering at your child’s school, taking on extra projects at work, or agreeing to a commitment that drains your energy. Saying no to one thing means you’re saying yes to yourself and your calling. Your passion deserves to be a priority.
  2. Wake Up 60 Minutes Earlier
I’ve found that when I wake up before my family, the house is peaceful and I can get focused, productive work done. I start my mornings with daily devotions, connecting with God, and then dedicate concentrated time to content creation, outreach for potential guests, client strategy, and more. Try getting up early to spend intentional time on your passion—you may be surprised how quickly it becomes a habit.
  3. Use Car Time or Waiting Time for Your Passion
When I was working full-time in corporate America and commuting daily, I regularly used that drive time to listen to educational podcasts, audiobooks related to my passion, or even have strategic phone calls. We spend so much time in our cars that it can be repurposed to fuel our passions—even if it’s just brainstorming ideas and recording them in a voice note.
  4. Replace Unnecessary Tech Time with Passion Time
Even the busiest moms I know spend time scrolling on social media. Consider cutting back an hour from technology use—skip the social media scroll or forgo watching that new streaming series in the evening. Those reclaimed moments can be redirected toward building your passion.
  5. Ask for Help
As a multi-passionate, busy mom, I know how easy it is to take on too much. But there are always opportunities to delegate or ask for help. That might mean having your kids take on more chores, asking your spouse to run an errand, or outsourcing certain work tasks to a co-worker or freelancer. Identify one area in your life where you can share the load, and use that extra time for your passion.

Our passions should be treated as a priority. When we say “no” to things that pull us away from them, we’re saying “yes” to ourselves, and to the people God has called us to help. Think of it this way: you’re not just carving out time for your dream, you’re making space to serve those you were created to serve.
